Persistency"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #225d71;\"><strong>Let\u2019s say you\u2019ve spent hours preparing polls, slide decks and documents to share during recurring online training events. You upload them to the virtual room before the first training begins.\u00a0 The event goes well.\u00a0 Excellent!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>But once you shut down that virtual classroom, what happens?\u00a0 With most platforms, the content you uploaded\u00a0<strong>will not be there the next time you enter the room.\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0All the work you put into preparing the virtual classroom will basically be lost.\u00a0 And you&#8217;ll have to repeat the process for the next training.\u00a0<span style=\"color: #f68920;\"><strong>\u00a0Back to square one.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re not just talking about small, no-name web conferencing platforms that don&#8217;t &#8220;maintain&#8221; virtual classrooms.\u00a0<span style=\"color: #bb2025;\"><strong>WebEx, GoToMeeting, Zoom &#8211; some of the biggest names &#8211; none of them feature PERSISTENCY.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>What do we mean by\u00a0persistency? Why is it important?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Well, let&#8217;s look to real life for an example.\u00a0 A teacher has a physical classroom.\u00a0 She&#8217;s set up students&#8217; desks in\u00a0strategic groups.\u00a0 There are posters she&#8217;s hung up for inspiration.\u00a0 There&#8217;s the whiteboard, bulletin board, and projector prepped and set up to use.\u00a0 When she turns off the lights and leaves, she knows the room, with all its furnishings, will be there when she comes back.\u00a0 And what do you know!\u00a0 The next day, she finds everything as she left it.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Her classroom persists through time.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.meetingone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Persistent-Classroom-M1.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-12015\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12015\" src=\"https:\/\/www.meetingone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Persistent-Classroom-M1.png\" alt=\"Persistent virtual classroom\" width=\"500\" height=\"294\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So, the\u00a0persistency\u00a0of a virtual space entails the same idea. The room you&#8217;ve created &#8211; with\u00a0its particular design, features, and background &#8211; must remain unchanged and intact when you shut down the session and restart it to be persistent.<strong>\u00a0 The content you upload, the polls you post, the notes you write &#8211; they all stay the same even after an online event if it&#8217;s persistent.\u00a0\u00a0<span style=\"color: #bb2025;\">Just like a real classroom.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Why don\u2019t most virtual classrooms persist?\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0In all honesty, I don&#8217;t know.\u00a0 It goes back to a choice made by the developers and designers of each platform.\u00a0 The folks at Cisco must have decided they didn&#8217;t want to build it into the architecture of WebEx.\u00a0 Same goes for GoToMeeting.\u00a0 (The founders of Zoom were originally part of the WebEx team, so it goes without saying&#8230;)<\/p>\n<p>Obviously,\u00a0persistency\u00a0is one of those really valuable features.\u00a0 If you host online meetings, virtual\u00a0trainings\u00a0or webinars, it greatly simplifies\u00a0things to have a virtual room that persists through time.\u00a0<strong>\u00a0Is there a platform that offers room persistence?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #f68920;\"><strong>There is only one platform: Adobe Connect.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #bb2025;\">The Persistent Platform: Adobe Connect<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Persistency is an idea that runs throughout the Adobe Connect model.\u00a0 It&#8217;s been that way since before Adobe acquired Macromedia Breeze (the original version of Connect &#8211; see the screenshot below).\u00a0\u00a0And with Adobe Connect, there are many levels of\u00a0persistency.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_12014\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.meetingone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Breeze-Screenshot.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-12014\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12014\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-12014 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.meetingone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Breeze-Screenshot.jpg\" alt=\"Breeze Screenshot\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-12014\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">2003 Macro Breeze &#8211; Origins of Adobe Connect<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>In this blog, we&#8217;re going to tackle three levels of\u00a0persistency: Room persistency; pod persistency; and URL persistency.<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #f68920;\">Adobe Connect Room Persistency<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Adobe Connect rooms are like virtual offices, classrooms, and lecture halls.\u00a0 No matter your license tier, you get room persistency.\u00a0 So you can always come back to make changes or review notes and discussions from earlier sessions.<\/p>\n<p>What&#8217;s most important, though, about room persistency is the continuation of the design elements you&#8217;ve brought to the room.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #225d71;\">Room Design<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Adobe Connect Rooms can be designed however you like.\u00a0 We&#8217;re talking complete customization.\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0You could clutter one room with dozens of polls.\u00a0 Or, you could make a room that&#8217;s nothing but a bunch of chat pods configured to look like a smiley face.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.meetingone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Smiley-Face-drop-shadow.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-11988\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11988\" src=\"https:\/\/www.meetingone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Smiley-Face-drop-shadow.png\" alt=\"persistency\" width=\"718\" height=\"398\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Adobe Connect also allows you to build out an endless number of layouts in your Room.\u00a0 Each layout can be tailored for different reasons.\u00a0 Within one Adobe Connect Room, you could have a layout for hosting meetings, one for\u00a0trainings, and one for hosting webinars.<\/p>\n<p>However you use the layouts and your room, know that all the designing you&#8217;ve done will persist unaltered until you make changes.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>As an example, I took the below screenshot of a room we used to host a 2015 webinar.\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0(This event was held a few months before I joined the team.)\u00a0 The original chat, Q&amp;A and poll responses still exist &#8211; and in the same positions as when the webinar was first produced!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.meetingone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/2015-Webinar-Layout-for-Blog.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-11987\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11987\" src=\"https:\/\/www.meetingone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/2015-Webinar-Layout-for-Blog.png\" alt=\"persistency\" width=\"776\" height=\"449\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Also, the menu bar, pods, and even text can all be colored to match brand standards.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>The color selections you make will go unchanged until you modify the palette.<\/strong>\u00a0 (See how the below color selections appear in the &#8220;Smiley Face&#8221; above.)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.meetingone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/AC-Central-Customization.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-11986\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11986\" src=\"https:\/\/www.meetingone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/AC-Central-Customization.png\" alt=\"Adobe Connect peristency\" width=\"500\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #225d71;\">Room Background<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>The background of your room is so\u00a0important.\u00a0 It can be used to introduce branding elements to your virtual space.\u00a0 Or set the tone for online events.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In Adobe Connect, it&#8217;s easy to upload pictures for your background, and just as easy to change them out.\u00a0 And &#8211; maybe you already guessed it &#8211; the background image you upload will persist!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s consider the backgrounds I&#8217;ve used over time. The room &#8211; &#8220;Joel&#8217;s Meeting Room&#8221; &#8211; has remained basically the same since 2015.\u00a0 But I like to mix things up with the background.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.meetingone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Background-Image-collage.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-11985\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11985\" src=\"https:\/\/www.meetingone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Background-Image-collage.png\" alt=\"adobe connect persistency\" width=\"850\" height=\"514\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When I first started at MeetingOne in 2015, I uploaded that picture of the mountains to my room.\u00a0 (We&#8217;re based in Colorado &#8211; it&#8217;s a logical choice.) It served as the background for several months.\u00a0 Then I switched things up, transporting us the Caribbean in 2016.\u00a0 I used that image for over a year.<\/p>\n<p>About mid-2017, I felt it was again time for a change.\u00a0 So, I set the beautiful Mile High City\u00a0as my background.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #f68920;\">Adobe Connect\u00a0Pod Persistency<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>We noted above that the placement of pods in Adobe Connect rooms\u00a0 &#8211; the design &#8211; persist through time. So too does the content in those pods.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The chats you facilitate, the poll responses, the notes you take &#8211;\u00a0all that information is maintained in the Adobe Connect room until you delete it.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s explore what this actually looks like with Adobe Connect pods.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #225d71;\">Chat Pods<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><strong>The chats you have in Adobe Connect will persist after the room closes down<\/strong>.\u00a0 You simply don&#8217;t get that with other platforms like WebEx, Zoom, and GoToMeeting.\u00a0\u00a0With Adobe Connect, you can visit a room at any time after a session, and review the conversations in the Chat Pods.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The particular feature I like is the\u00a0Timestamp option.\u00a0 It&#8217;s very cool being able to track conversations back over days or weeks (or even years!).\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0And it makes it helpful when delineating certain conversations.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.meetingone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Chat-Pod-drop-shadow.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-12000\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12000\" src=\"https:\/\/www.meetingone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Chat-Pod-drop-shadow.png\" alt=\"persistency\" width=\"449\" height=\"141\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #225d71;\">Poll\u00a0Pod<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a use case example to explain the value of Poll Pod persistency.\u00a0 You&#8217;re a trainer hosting a training.\u00a0 To get some insight into participant perceptions of training, you use a poll to capture interest.\u00a0 You use another poll to explore value.\u00a0 And a third to learn about comprehension.<\/p>\n<p>How are you going to save the questions in the polls for later\u00a0trainings?\u00a0 With Adobe Connect, you don&#8217;t have to actively save them.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>The polls will\u00a0<em>persist<\/em>\u00a0in the room you created after the training.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s an example from one of our 2016 webinars:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.meetingone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Poll-Pod-drop-shadow.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-12003\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12003\" src=\"https:\/\/www.meetingone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Poll-Pod-drop-shadow.png\" alt=\"Adobe Connect persistency\" width=\"347\" height=\"247\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This greatly simplifies things.\u00a0\u00a0<span style=\"color: #bb2025;\"><strong>When you create a new training session using that same Adobe Connect room, those polls will be waiting for you!\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #225d71;\">Note Pod<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>If you&#8217;re anything like me, you prize the ability to take notes during online meetings.\u00a0 Unfortunately, I have the bad habit of leaving my room before exporting my notes.<\/p>\n<p>But I don&#8217;t worry if that happens.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>All the notes I take will persist through time unchanged<\/strong>.\u00a0 The example below captures this well.\u00a0 These are notes I made from a meeting a few weeks back.\u00a0 As long as I need them, I can jump into my room and review.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.meetingone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Note-pod-drop-shadow-2.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-12002\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12002\" src=\"https:\/\/www.meetingone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Note-pod-drop-shadow-2.png\" alt=\"persistency\" width=\"500\" height=\"234\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>These notes can still easily be exported if I need to use the Note Pod for a new meeting.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #225d71;\">Share Pod<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Adobe Connect&#8217;s screen sharing tool is called the &#8220;Share Pod.&#8221;\u00a0 The Share Pod also doubles as a document sharing module.\u00a0 And guess what?<strong>\u00a0The content you upload to the Share Pod persists through time<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p>When you come back into a room, the documents you were sharing will still be there.\u00a0 The example below is a recent screenshot I took.\u00a0 But it captures content I uploaded years ago. All the highlights, scribbles and shapes &#8211; they too persist through time!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.meetingone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Share-Pod-drop-shadow.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-12009\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12009\" src=\"https:\/\/www.meetingone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Share-Pod-drop-shadow.png\" alt=\"Adobe Connect Persistency\" width=\"650\" height=\"393\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So, what&#8217;s the value?\u00a0 Let&#8217;s say you&#8217;re hosting a webinar.\u00a0 While you host dry-runs in the room, it&#8217;s nice to be able to have your slide deck already uploaded.\u00a0 With Adobe Connect, those slides will remain in the room even after your dry-run.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>That means you don&#8217;t have to re-upload the deck each time you dry-run or before your presentation.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The content that you upload to the Share Pod will be there when you come back for your presentations.\u00a0 It doesn&#8217;t matter if it&#8217;s been a day, a week or a month since you were last in the room.\u00a0 Your slides, documents, videos &#8211; they will still be there.<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #f68920;\">Adobe Connect Persistent URLs<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Unlike other platforms, Adobe Connect offers persistent URLs.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The first time you create your Adobe Connect room, you&#8217;re prompted also to customize the URL.\u00a0 That URL lasts as long as you keep the room active.<\/p>\n<p>Every meeting I&#8217;ve held has been in one meeting room: &#8220;Joel&#8217;s Meeting Room.&#8221;\u00a0 I created this room in 2015 when I started at MeetingOne.\u00a0 The URL is http:\/\/meetingone.adobeconnect.com\/joelbyerly\/\u00a0 It&#8217;s been the same that entire time.\u00a0 (Go ahead.\u00a0 Copy and paste the URL.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve locked the room.\u00a0 Sorry to disappoint. ;))<\/p>\n<p>One of the foremost experts on Adobe Connect, Peter Ryce, has used the same Adobe Connect room &#8211; and therefore the same URL &#8211; for 14 years!!!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.meetingone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/URL-With-Drop-Shadow.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-11999\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11999\" src=\"https:\/\/www.meetingone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/URL-With-Drop-Shadow.png\" alt=\"persistency\" width=\"573\" height=\"329\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s very convenient to have a URL that continues to exist through time.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t have to search out the URL every time I hold a meeting &#8211; I just bookmarked my room&#8217;s URL.\u00a0 So, with one click, I&#8217;m in my room.<\/p>\n<p>More importantly, I don&#8217;t have to worry about receiving a new URL if I want to hold a formal meeting.\u00a0 I can simply update the\u00a0event&#8217;s date and send out new invites.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>The URL does not change.<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #bb2025;\">Value of Persistency<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>To my mind, persistency offers undeniable value to anyone hosting online meetings, virtual training, or webinars<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Persistent URLs make it possible to easily jump into meetings on an impromptu basis.\u00a0 Persistent pods make re-upping courses more easy for trainers.\u00a0 And persistent rooms give webinar marketers reusable space for all of their online events.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>And there&#8217;s only one platform that even features persistency:\u00a0<span style=\"color: #bb2025;\"><a style=\"color: #bb2025;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.meetingone.com\/adobe-connect\/\">Adobe<\/a><\/span><span style=\"color: #bb2025;\"><a style=\"color: #bb2025;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.meetingone.com\/eu-nl\/adobe-connect\/\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0Connect<\/a><\/span>.\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>If you&#8217;d like to learn more about Adobe Connect, feel free to\u00a0<span style=\"color: #f68920;\"><a style=\"color: #f68920;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.meetingone.com\/eu-nl\/contact\/\" target=\"_blank\">contact us today<\/a><\/span>!\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.meetingone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/AdobeConnectLogo.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3807\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3807 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.meetingone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/AdobeConnectLogo-300x300.png\" alt=\"Adobe Connect Web Conferencing\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Let\u2019s say you\u2019ve spent hours preparing polls, slide decks and documents to share during recurring online training events.
